GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 347722
should make use of EXIF orientation information

This is being forwarded from http://bugs.debian.org/375488 - Roland Mas wrote: "I'm using gnome-screensaver in the "carousel" mode, using a selection of my digital pictures in JPEG format. Some of them are taken in "portrait" (vertical) orientation. This information is encoded in the EXIF metadata section of the image files, and programs such as F-Spot are able to interpret it and display the image appropriately rotated. The screensaver doesn't seem to be able to do so."
The carousel theme is not part of gnome-screensaver. It is included with xscreensaver. However, the gnome-screensaver slideshow theme should already use EXIF information if available.
