GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 346112
Support for .ratDVD format
Last modified: 2009-05-27 00:25:45 UTC
ratDVD takes a full featured DVD movie and puts it into a highly compressed .ratDVD container format file - while preserving all the features of the original DVD Ratdvd is a format / media player for windows, but there seems to be no player that can play the format on linux. Far as I can tell, the implementation is (partially) open source, but the author is unable to port the code to linux. His implementation seems to be heavily directshow-based. The installer comes with some gpl'd code. format homepage: http://www.ratdvd.dk/ I'll see what else I can find out, there seems to be some interest in the format, but the lack of documentation is somewhat unfortunate.
Quite unlikely to happen unless someone sends a patch, especially if there is no spec and/or library licensed under a free software license.
Don't really see any point in keeping this bug open. No docs, little interest, questionable that GStreamer is the right layer to add support for this, and unlikely that anyone is going to work on it.
