GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 343136
ask for superuser password when using sudo
Last modified: 2011-11-11 10:03:55 UTC
That bug has been described on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-system-monitor/+bug/45704 "Ran gnome-system-monitor and selected the Edit -> Change Priority item after selecting a process. When I changed the priority to -4 and pressed OK, I was prompted for the root password. Since there is no root password in my default install of Ubuntu, that clearly wasn't going to work out. ..."
which backend do you have gksu backend ? gnomesudo ? can you reproduce if you run 'sudo -k' before lauching gsm ?
I can reproduce by typing sudo -k before launch. Typing my user (which is in the admin group) password in the root password prompt did let me change the priority though.
screenshot of the password prompt ?
The password dialog seems to be the standard gksuui_dialog_new() one, might be a libgksuui feature request
HEAD is using libgksu2.
2.15.90 tells me "Permission denied" for changing the prio to -4.
Any news ? Are you using gksu sudo-mode ?
seems to work fine now, marking as fixed
