GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 343112
networkmanager 0.6.x wlan does not work with orinoco + wep
Last modified: 2006-06-11 10:19:02 UTC
Please describe the problem: this is a regression bug, nm 0.5.x used to work with wep & orinoco, but it does not work anymore... one can find reports at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DapperNetworkManager and at the nm mailinglist (february/march 2006) Steps to reproduce: 1. grab a orinoco card and try to join to a wep network 2. see nm fail you can find logs for nm 0.5.x and 0.6.x at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DapperNetworkManager Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? 100% reproducable Other information: I noticed that the essid gets set but the key simply does not. I tried different versions of wpa supplicant (up to 0.5.2) - same result.
it is not a bug in nm but in wpa supplicant. applying wpa_supplicant-wep-key-fix.patch from http://cvs.fedora.redhat.com/viewcvs/devel/wpa_supplicant/ makes it work again.
