GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 342724
gnome 2 gnucash loses gnome 1 file history list
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:05:09 UTC
A user is a happy contented user of gnucash 1.8.*. Then the system is upgrade to 1.9.*. Upon starting gnucash, with the customary "gnucash" invocation without command line arguments, gnucash acts as if there is no file. In other words, gnucash has the wonderful ability to remember from invocation to invocation what the user's gnucash file is, but upon upgrade, that remembering vanishes. This will result in gobs of user support requests from panicked people, saying "EEK! HELP! MY FINANCIAL DATA HAS VANISHED!" Some of them may not even *remember* where their gnucash file is, making the situation worse. Configuration information should be preserved on upgrade.
This bug is in the Debian BTS as http://bugs.debian.org/367800.
i think this should have priority urgent because of its nature, but bugzilla won't let me say that.
This isn't an Engine issue. I've reassigned it to User Interface.
Fixed in r14321.
