Description Kevin Kubasik 2006-05-14 05:46:49 UTC
If a user checks the "Start search & indexing services automatically" option in beagle-settings, they would assume that the daemon would start next time they log in, at the moment, it does not.

I think that is/was a suse-specific hack.

One generic option that is worth looking into is:

Novell guys do you still use this?
Comment 3 Joe Shaw 2006-05-22 17:55:01 UTC
Yes, we still use this. I thought there was another bug open about this somewhere, but I can't find it.

Right now, that configuration flag only has an effect if you start beagled or beagle-search with the --autostarted flag. Now that GNOME has an autostart mechanism similar to KDE's starting in 2.14, we can probably remove this and replace it with dropping in a .desktop file in the appropriate autostart directories, and it'll work anywhere GNOME 2.14 is shipped.
