Description Daniel Holbach 2006-04-28 15:19:07 UTC
Forwarded from: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/41864

When you click the Help button in gnome-default-applications-properties, the help application starts but gives an error.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Run gnome-default-applications-properties
2) Click on the help button

Expected results:
1) Lots of nice information about how to set default application preferences

Actual results:
1) An error dialog box pops up saying

"Could not load section
The section ‘goscustdoc-2’ does not exist in this document. If you were directed to this section from a Help button in an application, please report this to the maintainers of that application."

I can't reproduce the bug here. Pressing Help button opens Yelp with the right content (well, maybe a bit old...). I'm using control-center-2.14.1 and yelp-2.14.1.

Yeah, seeing it too on fedora, so it's not ubuntu-specific.

control-center-2.14.1-1.fc5.2
yelp-2.14.1-1.fc5.1

It seems that now this help section has a different name "prefs-preferredapps" and the old name, kept for backward compatibility was changed from "goscustdoc-2" to "goscustdesk-2". Look at the end of this cvs diff[1].
As of the fact that on my system help works, hem... for some strange way I still have installed GNOME 2.8 documentation :/
