GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 338964
Piano with Balls wmv file fails to play video
Last modified: 2006-04-21 13:55:47 UTC
Please describe the problem: This file fails to play video in totem, but audio works. The file plays correctly in mplayer. Steps to reproduce: 1. go to http://media1.break.com/dnet/media/content/pianoballs.wmv and download the file 2. play the file in totem 3. Actual results: You hear audio, but no video. Expected results: The video should play Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information: Gentoo Linux
The video is a proprietary Microsoft video format that can't easily be played back yet. If you're on x86, you might be able to make it work if you install pitfdll and grab the appropriate .dlls (w32codecs). Otherwise you'll have to wait either until the ffmpeg folks reverse-engineer the format, or until Fluendo makes plugins that can decode this format available (for pay).
