GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 338094
Toggle button on end of "Ribbon" doesn't have accessible name/description.
Last modified: 2010-03-28 00:08:08 UTC
There is a graphical toolbar in planner. The wider you have the planner window, the more icons you see as graphical button in a single strip of "ribbon". The rest of the items are put in a popup menu (single line text entries) which you can bring up by clicking on the arrow button to the right of the ribbon. The problem is that that toggle button doesn't have an accessible name, so when you read it with a screen reader like Orca, you have no idea that there is a menu of other options available to you. The accessible name for this component should be something like "Display more options" or "Show Remaining Items".
Just a quick ping on this. This seems like it should be relatively easy to fix (famous last words) and have a good benefit to blind users. I just don't know the planner source to be able to suggest a patch. Is planner still being maintained?
I just took a look at this with Orca in Ubuntu Lucid. The toggle button now has an accessible name which Orca is presenting in both speech and in braille. So at some point this bug got FIXED. Thanks to whomever did so! :-) Closing.
