Forwarded from: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/36669

It seems that on my gnome-desktop, i cannot actually disable the draw_background key for GNOME: When i uncheck it, the background is still drawn by gnome. It is very annonying for applications that use the X root window : they simply cannot work sinc they are hidden by GNOME's background.

Sorry, I was informed that this is a control-center (gnome-settings-daemon) issue - I tried /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop too, no love...

hej daniel,
can you check if the patch attached to bug 339404 fixes this issue for you?
Comment 3 Sebastien Bacher 2007-02-14 20:04:09 UTC
not a bug, the background is displayed by nautilus when it manages the desktop
