Description:
I am resending this as my earlier bug did not make it through.

See
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-list/2000-November/msg00527.html
for the full story: when I close Gnome and restart it (with startx or
startx -- -bpp 32 or 16 depending on machine: I don't use [gkx]dm),
the gnome-terminals which were open when I closed Gnome show up in a
ever-so-slightly different position from where I put them. Saving
session or not makes no difference.

Ever-so-slightly does not mean this is an unimportant bug, btw :) I
put them there so I can actually see the whole of them. Currently,
when I save with four gnome-terminals carefully aligned so that I
see all the contents of each, with a panel at the top of the screen,
I restart to find the gnome-terminals further down: there is a gap
at least as wide as the panel between the bottom of the panel and
the top of the top two gnome-terminals. This means I can't see the
bottom two or three lines of the bottom gnome-terminals. Where, like,
you end up typing..

I start them in various fashions: with the gnome-terminal launcher
for all, the gnome-terminal launcher for one and the rest generated
by right-click menu->New Terminal, and so on.

If it's relevant, I don't have the menu bar visible on them (I have
seen gnome-terminals jump about when adding/removing the menu bar,
though), and I moved the scrollbar to the left. Plenty of other changes
too, come to think of it, but those are consistent whichever machine
and gnome version I am running. The gap is not equivalent to "the size
of a menu bar", just to confuse matters, though.

Window manager is Window Maker (0.62.1). But I don't know the wm of
the guy whose post is quoted in part in the URL at the top.

Telsa

Comment 4 Telsa Gwynne 2002-01-06 11:41:31 UTC
Still happening for me here: RH 7.2 now.
gnome-core-1.4.0.4-38
gnome-libs-1.2.13-16
Comment 5 Kjartan Maraas 2002-03-16 19:51:33 UTC
Sorry to bother you again with this. Has it changed in
gnome-libs-1.4.1.4 and gnome-core-1.4.0.6?
Comment 6 Telsa Gwynne 2002-03-19 11:49:48 UTC
Blush. Haven't got 1.4.1 yet :( Will reopen if I get it and it
still happens.
Comment 7 Elijah Newren 2002-12-07 18:23:20 UTC
Telsa: Does it still happen, or can this be closed?
Comment 8 Kjartan Maraas 2002-12-08 20:03:42 UTC
I think we'll close this now.
