Description Wouter Bolsterlee (uws) 2006-04-03 08:38:02 UTC
The main window menu contains: View Message Hi_story
The chat window menu contains: View Message _History

These should be the same.

And I also think the string should be something along the lines "View previous conversations" instead. In the beginning we really tried hard to stay away from "technospeak", I think we should try to do that more again.
Comment 2 Martyn Russell 2006-04-04 09:21:08 UTC
Mmm, I don't see what is "technospeak" about "View Message History"?
It is better than it was anyway as "Show Log", that is more like "technospeak".

I don't really like "View Previous Conversations" because:

a) It is quite long as a menu item.
b) Not all messages are a conversation, they are just a message.
c) History is used by the browser, so the terminology is already known to users.

Any other suggestions? :)
Comment 3 Richard Hult 2006-04-04 09:27:05 UTC
When, in real life, will you say "maybe you mentioned that in our message history"? :)

One message is still a conversation, a really short one.

s/view/show/ might be better btw.

About the length, it's just one character longer than "Show disconnected contacts", so I consider that argument moot.

What about something like "View Chat History" ?
Comment 5 Richard Hult 2006-04-07 18:44:09 UTC
Let's leave it up to the native english speaker, Martyn ;)
Comment 6 Martyn Russell 2006-04-07 20:02:47 UTC
Fixed.

I will let you find out by updating which way I decided to go on this ;)
