GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 336523
Change to higher priority without entering credentials
Last modified: 2012-01-06 21:04:47 UTC
That bug has been opened on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-system-monitor/+bug/36087 "I am able to change priority of processes to a negative value without entering password. gnome-system-monitor 2.14.0 on dapper flight 5"
Ubuntu bug tracker has also https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-system-monitor/+bug/36563 on the topic: "This hangs gnome-system-monitor (when trying to stop Firestarter using the context menu). I'm using Dapper (Flight 5). Here's the output it generates to the terminal: xauth: /tmp/libgksu1.2-FsUYNB/.Xauthority cmd[0]: /usr/bin/sudo cmd[1]: -H cmd[2]: -S cmd[3]: -p cmd[4]: GNOME_SUDO_PASS cmd[5]: -u cmd[6]: root cmd[7]: -- cmd[8]: kill cmd[9]: -s cmd[10]: 19 cmd[11]: 5344 buffer: -GNOME_SUDO_PASS(garbage) Yeah, we're in... xauth: /tmp/libgksu1.2-FsUYNB/.Xauthority xauth_env: /home/htinn/.Xauthority dir: /tmp/libgksu1.2-FsUYNB ** (gnome-system-monitor:24503): WARNING **: error: No password was supplied and sudo needs it. - command: 'kill -s 19 5344' - user: 'root'"
should be fixed in 2.14.1
ping ?
works sort of fine with 2.14.3, it's still bugged if you enter your password right for an action and do another action, it asks for the password again then and do the action without considering the password. Could be a gksu bug though
Is this still a problem? I can not reproduce this using Gnome System Monitor 3.3.2.1.
