GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 336521
silent mass version change for Evolution bugs
Last modified: 2006-04-22 06:07:40 UTC
The b.g.o Product Evolution is in dire need for some version clean-ups. All these outdated minor version numbers need to die. Note: This applies to still open bugs, as well as long fixed and closed bugs! Thus, the SQL magic should ensure to *not* send out any mails for this changes, but rather merge these changes with the next bugzilla mail that would have been sent anyway. Still pondering which old versions actually are needed. Details follow.
NEEDINFO, of course. :) Assigning to Elijah, as per discussion on IRC.
Ok, I have now fixed up the mass-reassign-bugs.pl script (which does changes without emailing and records info about the change in the "View Bug Activity" table) so it should handle assigned_to, qa_contact, and version. So, all I need to do is run several commands of the form: ./mass-reassign-bugs.pl -p evolution -f version -o 2.1.2 -n 2.1.x All I need now is to get the old and new version numbers from you.
great news, thanks elijah! ok, after taking a look at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/browse.cgi?product=Evolution and considering discussions with guenther about this, my proposal now would be to have the following versions: Evolution: pre-1.5, 1.5.x, 2.0.x, 2.1.x, 2.2.x, 2.3.x, 2.4.x, 2.5.x, 2.6.x Evo-D-Srv: pre-1.0, ... (>=1.0 remains unchanged) how to proceed?: guenther, please contradict. after that, let's cc harish to find a compromise. after that, let's say "go ahead!" to elijah. after that, let bkor kidnap elijah for guadec, so that we can get elijah a drink for free. garrrr.... a cunning and sly plan, HARHAR!!!! still NEEDINFO as we need further input.
These versions look good to me, as discussed previously on IRC. Adding Harish to the Cc list, to advance in the master plan. ;) Elijah, I guess it is obvious which versions need to die and be moved. If there are any questions, please feel free to ping me on IRC anytime.
Per discussion with Andre on the irc, I am all for the change.
Okay, 11013 bugs changed. Wouldn't it have been more fun to spam everyone, though? ;-)
uhhh, damn sexy! this will save me thousands of kilometres of mouse scrolling a year! elijah, thanks a lot!
Thanks elijah, andre and guenther.
