GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 335911
define rules for generic import transaction matcher
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:00:23 UTC
Hi While importing transactions from an external file (e.g. mt940) you have to select which accounts each transaction belongs too in a window called "generic import transaction matcher" If you have a lot of those, this can be a very tidious task to do. I suggest that a gui that can let the user define certain values match certain accounts would be a very helpful feature. example: all transactions that are "+$1200" should go into Income:Salary all transactions that contain the string "car" in the description field go to Expense:Car or whatever The rules would be applied directly in the gen. imp. tr. matcher window
The enhancement is understandable and fine. However, it is not quite trivial how such a GUI should look like in order to be usable by the average (non-programmer) user. Maybe we could re-use part of the "seach a transaction" GUI, where you can build rules for a search... I don't know. In any case I won't work on this anytime soon. Just for reference: This enhancement would belong to all importers except QIF, so it would belong to OFX importing, HBCI importing, and aqbanking's file importing of e. g. MT940.
