Description Sebastien Bacher 2006-03-17 11:58:41 UTC
That bug has been opened on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/35053

"gedit always starts its spell checking from the beginning of the file and does not allow you to skip backwards. If you are checking a document with lot's of URLs and code there will often be stuff that you have to 'Ignore', but you may often 'Ignore' something by accident that you should have corrected, and you ten cannot go back. If you cancel, you have to start from the beginning again.

Thunderbird OTOH gets around this by letting you edit the original text while the spellcheck window is open. The problem could be alleviated by a) letting you change things
like in TB, b) letting you check backwards (like search does) or having spellcheck start from the cursor position and then wrap around."

You can work around this by selection the text you want to check, so it's not so serious. Feel free to close it (I was the original reporter in Ubuntu and will close it there).

Ok, let's close it then.
