Description Denis Jacquerye 2006-03-13 03:50:47 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Gimp renames the font DejaVu Sans ExtraLight to Ultra-Light.

The font can be downloaded at http://dejavu.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Snapshots

Steps to reproduce:
1. Use the text tool
2. Look for DejaVu Sans ExtraLight or Extra-Light

Actual results:
The font is displayed as being Ultra-Light

Expected results:
The font should be displayed as Extra-Light or ExtraLight

Does this happen every time?

Other information:
I am not sure DejaVu Sans ExtraLight is configured/named properly in Fontforge.
Should it be Extra-Light or ExtraLight?

Either the font is broken or your copy of fontconfig is. Please file a bug report at the fontconfig bug-tracker over at freedesktop.org.

This is not a fontconfig bug, it is a pango bug. Pango should not be using the weight of a font to determine its style, it should use the style to determine the style.
