Description David Berg 2006-03-02 17:40:44 UTC
There doesn't seem to be an easy way to setup a scheduled transactions for a
interest bearing loan where all payments are the same except the last one. I
certainly don't see any options for this in the Druid and it doesn't appear
possible looking at the *pmt functions. If there isn't currently a way to do
this, I'd like to see the feature added. If there is, perhaps it should be more
visible.

I can see two workarounds. 1) One could simply change the amount after the last payment is entered. 2) One could stop terminate the entry of the scheduled transaction for the penultimate payment and create a one-time scheduled transaction for the final payment with the different amount.

I think that to add such an option to the scheduled transactions feature would make it more complicated that it already is. After there are many recurring transactions where the amounts changes each time, such a utility bills.
