Please describe the problem:
With the preferences window open, use the keyboard shortcut to go to the applet
and write something there. Now try to move with the keyboard arrows (up and
down) to select a result. On my system the applet seems to hang until I move the
mouse and give focus to something else.

This is 'normal' because the prefs panel is modal for the moment. It's a bug.

I tried some time ago to make it non-modal but somehow it didn't work, i guess i'll try again
