installed, using totem 1.13.92

I should clarify that they don't play at all.

This video plays fine for me using current ubuntu dapper/totem. (totem version in dapper is 1.3.91, not 1.13.92, so I'm not sure what exactly you were testing).

Anyway, can you confirm that you really do have all the plugin packages installed?

Decoding this file uses faad (audio), ffdec_mpeg4 (video) and qtdemux (for demuxing), so please check using gst-inspect-0.10 that you have all of those installed.
