I believe Microsoft now recommends against this and encourages users to use the Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs.   

Of course, it is up to you.

GTK+ and GIMP have such links in the start menu. Will add this. Uninstallation
through Control Panel is of couse still possible.

Doesn't make it a good idea (but I dont really care either way, Dia already creates several menu items so no big deal).
