Description Martijn Pepping 2006-02-17 19:48:11 UTC
It would be nice to be able to import music from an iPod into Banshee. Currently
it's only possible to copy music from Banshee TO the iPod.

What if you reinstall your OS? Sync'ing with Banshee forces to esrase the iPod,
to be able to sync.

Linux programs that support copying music from an iPod to the desktop include
gtkpod and yamipod.

Good luck with Banshee development! Rgrds, Martijn

In fact you can drag songs from your ipod to nautilus, so when you drag 'm to a monitored dir they're added automatically to your library. But, this shouldn't be the way to do it idd. PLus, I'd like to have the album cover on the ipod to be copied automagically too. Banshee also needs to upload album covers TO the ipod .. but that's for another request I guess ;)

Actually, it appears to work if you pick "Local Directory" and browse to the where the ipod is mounted in the filesystem when importing into the "Music Library", but that's not at all obvious in the UI.

It might be nice to have the ipod as one of the dropdown selections for where you want to import music into the library from.

I just discovered that worked just a second ago when I was looking to see if there was an existing bug report about not being able to do it. Heh.
Comment 3 jesse michael 2006-03-20 06:00:06 UTC
That didn't quite work as planned. It might have been better if I'd had "Copy files to Banshee Music Library when importing to Library" checked. Oops.

I think I'm going to have to nuke my banshee config in order to be able to try again.

Moving to the iPod component.

Well whaddya know?

This one has been implemented in CVS HEAD (will be 0.11.0 in the coming weeks)

Just drag tracks from your DAP to wherever, or right click and import, or go to File->Import Music... and select your DAP :)

Currently this is supported with USB Mass Storage DAPs, iPods, and MTP DAPs.
