Description Vladimír Kotal 2006-02-05 17:19:29 UTC
I have installed ffmpeg plugin from RPM (gstreamer-ffmpeg-0.8.7-0.gst.1.4) in Fedora Core 4 and after that mplayer (mplayer-1.0-0.16.pre7.1.fc3.rf) started using ffmpeg plugin for playing AVI files.

With the plugin, mplayer played the video correctly, except that in full screen more (-fs) it played the video only in small rectangle centered on the screen.

After the plugin was deinstalled, mplayer started playing full screen videos without problem again.

Other relevant RPMs I have installed:

gstreamer-plugins-0.8.8-9
gstreamer-plugins-extra-audio-0.8.8-2.2.fc4
gstreamer-devel-0.8.10-1
gstreamer-0.8.10-1

This is a FC4 issue. Mplayer isn't related AT all to gstreamer.

On a side issue, the fact of not being able to play fullscreen means mplayer is using the X11 video output and not the XV video output.

Are you sure you didn't have any other program (using the XV output) running when you tried that ?

Well, it did play in full screen mode, but the movie itself was playing in small rectangle and otherwise it was dark.

Hmm, I tried to reproduce the error by reinstalling the gstreamer-ffmpeg plugin RPM, but it didn't work out.
