Description Scott Ellington 2006-02-03 16:49:30 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
Turning on the metadata plugin produces consistent and near immediate crashes.
I don't need to touch the interface for the crash to occur (see below). The
crash also appears as:

 *** glibc detected *** corrupted double-linked list: 0xb4a8b840 ***

this is banshee 0.10.4

glibc-2.3.5-r2
Comment 1 Norbert Fabritius 2006-02-14 01:47:11 UTC
I can confirm this bug with banshee-0.10.6. on a gentoo ~x86 system. Sometimes it says:

glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x0a3246d0 ***

during startup I get: (doesn't seem releated though)

Warning: [14.02.2006 02:43:26] (Could not connect to D-Bus) - D-Bus support will be disabled for this instance: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Comment 2 Chris Rebert 2006-02-28 05:41:53 UTC
I can also confirm. Running gentoo x86 w/ banshee-0.10.6 and dependencies unmasked.
Comment 3 Aaron Bockover 2006-02-28 05:56:48 UTC
Okay, so three cheers for Gentoo... anyone not on Gentoo seeing this? I can't reproduce on SUSE/NLD.

The D-Bus issue is not related, and is not a problem in Banshee. There is a patch to fix the issue in dbus-sharp, which should be in the next release, but may already be patched in your distro (it is for Ubuntu Dapper and some others I think).
Comment 4 Chris Rebert 2006-02-28 20:53:33 UTC
Filed dupe in Gentoo Bugzilla (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124457).
Comment 5 Norbert Fabritius 2006-03-01 20:33:09 UTC
This truely is a gentoo bug. You have to switch gcc versions and recompile a _lot_. Read in the gentoo bugzilla (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124457).
Comment 6 Aaron Bockover 2006-03-02 00:47:44 UTC
I thought so. I'm going to close this. Anyone please re-open if you're not on Gentoo.
