Description Srinivasa Ragavan 2006-02-03 04:37:29 UTC
From the command line start 'evolution --offline' it comes up asks for my IMAP password and connects to the server. Looks like NM supports has to do something with it.

Assigning to Shreyas.

First real NM bug. Phew.
Comment 3 André Klapper 2006-02-04 21:38:40 UTC
i've seen this for weeks now. although i set evo to offline, it's still gives annoying error popups (bug 247373) about not reaching my imap server.
(whou, i know that bug number by heart. :-/ )
Comment 4 Shreyas Srinivasan 2006-02-05 04:08:27 UTC
Andre: Well no, this bug has nothing to do with intrusive errors. This is a very
simple scenario. If the network is up and then you use a evolution --offline then evolution switches back to online instead of starting in offline state. I dont see how this is related to the intrusive error messages.
Comment 5 André Klapper 2006-02-23 13:15:21 UTC
no shres, it's not something else. i do get imap error popups, but evolution does not try to access my pop accounts. so to me, this is definitely the same.
anyway, for what do i have to grep in ps ax to find out if network-manager runs?
Comment 6 André Klapper 2006-02-23 13:21:53 UTC
"first real nm bug"? ha! see bug 327192. ;-)
Comment 7 André Klapper 2006-02-26 15:25:32 UTC

Comment 8 André Klapper 2006-03-20 14:58:32 UTC
bug 333821 could be a duplicate.

Ubuntu bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/evolution/+bug/120728

"Bug behaviour: When evolution is switched to offline mode, changing NIC in some way, ie. plugging into a different network, or switching from the wired NIC to the WLAN NIC, will switch Evolution into online mode.

This has been staying long unnoticed. This should be fixed for 2.10.x and 2.11.x
Comment 11 Steinar Bang 2007-10-24 16:43:03 UTC
The bug is still present in Evolution 2.12.0 in Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon.

And it is at its most obnoxious when using the Exchange connector. Since at best I have to kill Evolution, and all evolution sub processes, and give the domain password again when restarting Evolution.

At worst I also have to call IT support and have them unlock my Windows Domain account that Evolution manages to lock down with its (presumably suspicious) behaviour.

So the only way to use Evolution, is to shut it down before suspending the laptop and waking it up in a new network, and not start evolution until I know VPN is up.

Very cumbersome.

Andre, Sure. This would be addressed now. Restoring the Severity and assigning to myself
Comment 13 Srinivasa Ragavan 2008-01-18 06:54:09 UTC
Fixed in trunk now.
