GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 329165
Names starting with J leave remnants on the screen
Last modified: 2014-08-02 12:52:16 UTC
I'm running CVS HEAD built with JHBuild here, and gnome-about leaves remnants on the window for every name starting with J. This is reproducible for all of them, but among the examples are Jakub Steiner, John Schulien, Jon Anhold, Jochen Friedrich, Josh MacDonald. When these names are decreasing again, they leave "stuff" around. Please clean it =D
Confirming. Without looking at the code, guess you should cleanup the ink_rect instead of logical_rect.
So, in fact, this is caused because remove a workaround for a libgnomecanvas bug. I put the workaround back in. Moving to libgnomecanvas.

Vincent, can you attach the "workaround" you talk about?
Here's the link to the patch that added the workaround back. It was just painting a white rectangle. http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/gnome-desktop/trunk/gnome-about/gnome-about.c?limit_changes=100&r1=4390&r2=4462&pathrev=4463
The last libgnomecanvas code changes took place in January 2011: https://git.gnome.org/browse/archive/libgnomecanvas/log/ This project is not under active development anymore. This project got recently archived in GNOME Git. It is currently unlikely that there will be any further active development. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality.
