Description Sebastien Bacher 2006-01-27 16:06:30 UTC
Some Ubuntu users pointed that "XDMCP Chooser" (in the "F10 menu") is an obscur option for users who don't know what XDMCP is. One of them suggested to replace it by "Remote Login", the tooltip would still state it's using XDMCP for people who are interesting in that information.

The string freeze in monday in case you would like to change that before :)

Confirming this bug, please change this to something user-friendly!
Comment 2 Sebastien Bacher 2006-01-27 17:47:39 UTC
in fact monday is UI freeze, so no hurry

I changed the string to "Remote login via XDMCP" since that is more clear and
allows the mnemonic to remain "X" (also can't use "R" as the mnemonic since Restart is already using that). Also, since XDMCP has some well known security
issues, it is good to not hide XDMCP too much. Note GDM also supports secure remote login via the new ssh.desktop session file (so you can pick this in the Session menu if you build GDM with --enable-secureremote). Another good reason
to keep XDMCP in the label to help differentiate it from the session choice.

At any rate, I think this fixes the bug and is easier for users to understand, less obscure, etc. Marking this as fixed.

Of course menu items should use header capitalization. So, "Remote login via XDMCP" should probably be "Remote Login via XDMCP".

Thanks, I changed the messages in CVS head so "Login" is capatalized here.
