GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 328684
Typos and remaining obsolete strings in the PO file
Last modified: 2006-02-15 02:55:23 UTC
1. po:43 reference: ⑤ ../gnomeicu.schemas.in.h:23 Original: ⌘0 The file where your contacts information for all your accounts is stored - your contacts information + contacts' information ("your" is implied in "your accounts") 2. po:68 reference: ⑤ ../src/changeinfo.c:466 Original: ⌘0 You can not update your informations while disconnected. - informations + information also: po:69 reference: ⑤ ../src/changeinfo.c:480 Original: ⌘0 You can not save your informations while disconnected. and .po:198 reference: ⑤ ../src/listwindow.c:187 Original: ⌘0 You can not request user informations while disconnected. and po:216 reference: ⑤ ../src/personal_info.c:503 Original: ⌘0 You can not update user informations while disconnected. 3. po:221 reference: ⑤ ../src/prefs_ui.c:201 flag: ⑤ c-format Original: ⌘0 %s is not a valid character set for conversion to and from UTF-8, it was reset with your previous setting missing word? + ... from UTF-8, so it was reset to your previous setting. 4. You can use the gettext plurals feature to avoid inaccurate translations. po:266 reference: ⑤ ../src/tray.c:126 ../src/tray.c:136 Original: ⌘0 contacts online .po:267 reference: ⑤ ../src/tray.c:127 ../src/tray.c:137 Original: ⌘0 contact online po:268 reference: ⑤ ../src/tray.c:129 Original: ⌘0 new messages .po:269 reference: ⑤ ../src/tray.c:129 Original: ⌘0 new message Some languages, like mine, have no plurals form in this sense, so I simply have to input the same translation twice here, where other languages have several different plurals forms. The gettext plurals feature automatically inputs the correct number of translation fields, by parsing the plurals header in the PO file. By using this feature, you will ensure better translations. Please see: <http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/html_mono/gettext.html#SEC150>. 5. I strongly suggest you use the iso-codes package installed with every system, to provide the very long list of translated countries and languages you include. This is constantly changing, and the iso-codes lists are kept up-to-date and completely translated, so you will get all the information you need without having to be responsible for keeping it up-to-date, and without making your translators sweat through that long list. Your list isn't as up-to-date as the iso-codes list, and we can't copy the iso-codes list over anyway, since your headers are different, so it means hours of extra hassle for all of us. You can still add your own items, like IMMARSAT, but call the countries list from the iso-codes package. That's exactly its purpose. 6. .po:773 reference: ⑤ ../src/v7login.c:346 Original: ⌘0 Very very bizzare error when connecting.\n - bizzare + bizarre 7. po:774 reference: ⑤ ../src/v7login.c:403 Original: ⌘0 Something very abnormal hapenned\n I think this is another erroneous string which hasn't been made obsolete, because the correct version occurs further on in the file: .po:778 reference: ⑤ ../src/v7newuser.c:222 Original: ⌘0 Something very abnormal happened\n 8. .po:785 reference: ⑤ ../src/v7recv.c:2186 Original: ⌘0 You are sending messages too fast, your last message has been dropped, please wait 10 seconds and resend. If you continue sending messages at that speed, you will be disconnect by the server. Please give it a break. - will be disconnect by the server + will be disconnected by the server 9. po:941 reference: ⑤ ../ui/welcome.glade.h:4 Original: ⌘0 <b>Incorrect UIN or Password.</b>\n \n The UIN or password is incorrect. Click OK to restart the process, or click Retreive to have your password e-mailed to you. - Retreive + Retrieve from Clytie, Vietnamese translator (I've committed the completed translation)
I think I've got all of this covered.. you may want to check in the CVS.
