Description James "Doc" Livingston 2006-01-25 06:31:13 UTC
Currently when using the generic audio player support, the tracks must be loaded every time, which is slow. It would be good to have a metadata cache to avoid this.

Writing all the db entries of the right type into a special cache file, and loading it on mount would probably work. ~/.gnome2/rhythmbox/cache/<device UID>.xml or something similar.

For DAPs running Rockbox software, would it be possible for Rhythmbox to read the Rockbox tag cache? This would make it unnecessary for Rhythmbox to scan, as the cache should be up to date.

Info on Rockbox's tag cache here: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome?topic=Tag+Cache+
