GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 328372
plugins won't unload when unchecked in the preferences window
Last modified: 2019-02-23 02:52:35 UTC
Please describe the problem: The perl plugin won't unload by unchecking it in the preferences window; however, the checkbox goes blank. Also, when loading a plugin fails, the checkbox still becomes checked. Steps to reproduce: 1.1: Uncheck Perl plugin in the preferences window 1.2: Recheck Perl plugin 2.1: Open script in preferences window 2.2: Check box beside script Actual results: 1: The plugin appears to remain loaded, but the box gets unchecked. Evident by "Perl interface already loaded" message. 2: In the situation regarding this script (a perl script that works fine in xchat) loading fails; however, the check box is still checked. Expected results: 1: It would be expected that either the plugin would be properly unloaded or an error message would appear and the box would remain checked. 2: It would be expected that an error message would appear and the box would remain unchecked. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
I think this could be related to the bug I just filed at https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/xchat-gnome/+bug/43205 This happens on all plugins, not just the perl one.
This appears to still be a bug in 0.15. If I click and unclick enough times, it says "An error occurred unloading /usr/lib/xchat-gnome/plugins/perl.so" (or any other plugin for that matter)
The second issue is a duplicate of bug 304000.
Still in 0.26.1 at least.
xchat-gnome is not under active development anymore. Its codebase has been archived: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/xchat-gnome/commits/master Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather reactivate the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again. You may want to switch to Hexchat (or another IRC client that suits you).
