Description David Mulcahy 2006-01-20 21:26:09 UTC
Hello

I am new to the gimp but I am having problems with a file i am trying to edit.
The file seemed to be working with debian stable and gimp 2.2.6 but I have
upgraded to debian etch and gimp 2.2.10 and now the file will crash.

The file is a 5.8mb black and white jpeg. The easiest way to recreate the
crash is to open the file and just do a cut. It seems to hang for a while
and then the following is displayed on the terminal.

davmul@brookdale:~$ gimp
sending pixbuf data as 'image/png' (png)
sending pixbuf data as 'image/bmp' (bmp)
sending pixbuf data as 'image/jpeg' (jpeg)
The program 'gimp' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 42130 error_code 3 request_code 18 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

(script-fu:1368): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: script-fu: wire_read(): error
davmul@brookdale:~$

I am not sure if this is a gimp / X or debian problem so I have reported here
first. If you need more info let me know.

Dave

Are you using KDE by any chance?
Comment 2 David Mulcahy 2006-01-20 22:14:13 UTC
Yes. Is this a known bug.
Comment 3 Simon Budig 2006-01-20 22:30:20 UTC
This is a known problem with the interaction between KDEs Klipper and the GIMP.
