Description Christian Persch 2006-01-17 20:32:44 UTC
Over in (the unrelated) bug 327403, someone got this warning on ephy startup:

libgnomevfs-WARNING **: Failed to create service
browser: Bad state

Trace:
#
  • #0 IA__g_logv
    at gmessages.c line 503
  • #1 IA__g_log
    at gmessages.c line 517
  • #2 gnome_vfs_dns_sd_browse
    from /usr/lib/libgnomevfs-2.so.0

Comment 1 Sebastien Bacher 2006-01-17 20:53:03 UTC
It happens with gnome-vfs 2.13.4 build with avahi (Ubuntu)
Comment 2 Christopher Lee 2006-01-17 20:54:06 UTC
gnome_vfs_dns_sd_browse () is where I saw the warning also (called from ephy_bookmarks_add())

Thanks for filing that. You guys work *fast*!!!
Comment 3 Christian Persch 2006-03-14 22:23:36 UTC
Still happening with avahi 0.6.9 and gnome-vfs 2.14.0 on ubuntu.
Comment 4 Scott Anderson 2006-07-21 20:39:05 UTC
I can confirm this bug. When 'reportbug' from debian launches epiphany, it spits out the following warning:

(epiphany-browser:8142): libgnomevfs-WARNING **: Failed to create service browser: Bad state

It happens every time I check a bug report using epiphany.

*** Bug 391655 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 6 Diego Escalante Urrelo (not reading bugmail) 2007-01-03 09:53:34 UTC
Confirming that it still happens in avahi 0.6.15 and gnome-vfs 2.17.2. Marking as NEW.
Comment 7 André Klapper 2008-09-06 19:10:37 UTC
gnome-vfs has been deprecated and superseded by gio/gvfs since GNOME 2.22, hence mass-closing many of the gnome-vfs requests/bug reports. This means that gnome-vfs is NOT actively maintained anymore, however patches are still welcome.

If your reported issue is still valid for gio/gvfs, please feel free to file a bug report against glib/gio or gvfs.

@Bugzilla mail recipients: query for gnome-vfs-mass-close to get rid of these notification emails all together.
