First:

new logout dialog says always:  "You will be automatically logged out in 0 seconds"

it should either be removed or say something different than 0 seconds always. 

Second:
I don't think it is a very good idea to use a timer for this logout.

Fixed in HEAD. I think using a timer here is appropriate :-) You can add a comment about this in bug 92277, though.

It's broken again. This time stuck on 60 seconds.

It's not broken. It's a feature: countdown is now 60...50...40...30.29.28.27.26.25.24.etc. It helps to reduce the "panic effect".

The text also resizes a second in - is that a bug?

This is bug 331766. It's not happening on my test account. Might be caused by something else...
