GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 326939
PDF displayed wrongly
Last modified: 2006-08-28 00:23:51 UTC
With evince I get wrongly rendered some parts of this document. They have black background instead of grey/green one. In xpdf it looks okay (or at least readable). Document is at http://www.paypay.com/manual_bnbk_en.pdf
For me (OS X 10.3.9, Apple X11), both evince (0.4.0) and xpdf (3.01) give most text boxes with a tan background on pages 1, 2, and 4 (some code has white-background boxes). Page 3 in xpdf has the same format for the text boxes and has two large clock-wise arrows in the background of the page, but evince only has a gray box of hashmarks where one text box should be (the other text boxes and the large arrows are gone).
Created attachment 57388 [details] Evince 0.4.0 screenshot Okay I will include screenshots.
Created attachment 57389 [details] xpdf 3.01 screenshot
My evince (except for page 3) and xpdf look like your xpdf in attachment #57389 [details]
A similiar (the same?) bug also happens in Debian/unstable, there are at the moment 5 reports: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=347423 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=347652 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=348511 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=348869 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=348980 All of them report that evince displays text on a black background, which makes evince useless as pdf reader in most cases. All of the bug reporters use evince 0.4.0.
I'm also using Debian/unstable...
Works fine for me with poppler and evince HEAD. This problem should be fixed recently in poppler.
