Description j^ 2006-01-14 04:19:52 UTC
Please describe the problem:
with more and more applications using gnome-keyring, there is
a big need for a keyring that is unlocked upon login.

i.e. i want my network keys and passphrases stored for NetworkManager
to be unlocked once i log in without a need to type in another
password to unlock one of my keyrings.

not sure what the best way is to do this, possibly it could be done by
using the same password as the one on the system and than unlocking the
keyring via PAM.

Steps to reproduce:
1. try to use NetworkManager without the need to type in another password on login
2. try to create a keyring without password in gnome-keyring-manager

Does this happen every time?

I think Jon Nettleton is working on this.

A quick follow up on this topic. Do you see pam_keyring becoming a part of gnome-keyring in the future? I am just curious if this is a bug that should be left open in gnome's bugzilla.

Similar issue described on https://launchpad.net/products/gnome-keyring/+bug/54779

"Keyring password

Upgrading from dapper to edgy, now evolution ask for a keyring password. There's no way to change/remove this password.
...
I don't mind if evolution is using gnome-keyring.

Issue is until now, evolution never asked for a keyring passwd, and suddenly ask for one.
The good thing is I've figured out which passwd it asked, and remembered its value...

But now, I would like to have the previous behaviour back, i.e. no passwd when launching evolution, and it's not easy to find how to achieve that.

How is this different from bug 312877?
