Description Sebastien Bacher 2006-01-07 21:14:57 UTC
That bug has been opened on http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=18122

"The window where you choose keyb. layouts (keyboard preferences -> layouts ->
add) is IMO too small to be usable: space for the list of available layouts is
too narrow to see the layout names without scrolling horizontally, and the
preview image is simply not readable at all at that size.

It is not a problem to make the window larger. What is the minimal screen resolution supported by GNOME?
Comment 2 Sebastien Bacher 2006-01-08 17:57:05 UTC
On that topic #153244 states that to fit with 800x600:

"Generally, it is a good practice to design most windows for 700x500 (taking
100pixels off because of the two default gnome-panels and the window manager)."
Comment 3 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2006-01-08 19:52:00 UTC
Well, currently it is a bit smaller than this - but even if I enlarge it, the preview would still be hard to read - actually this window is only usable if you maximize it on the screen with resolution starting from 1200...
Comment 4 Sebastien Bacher 2006-01-08 20:36:37 UTC
Changing from 524 to 700 make it easier to read already though...
Comment 5 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2006-01-08 21:09:42 UTC
OK, I enlarged it a bit..
Comment 6 Sebastien Bacher 2006-01-08 21:47:19 UTC
Thank you
Comment 7 Sebastien Bacher 2006-01-08 21:49:22 UTC
(ups, a bit fast :))

Thank you for changing that. I was thinking about it, do you think it would be a good idea to make it proportionnal at the screen resolution maybe?
Comment 8 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2006-01-08 22:31:17 UTC
Well, the thing is that I am not sure it is particularly nice to occupy the entire screen unless user really wants it. What I'd love to be able is to add the "Maximize" button to the dialog. But IIRC it is not doable with gnome dialogs, is it?
