This bug has been opened here: http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=20927

"trying to print some PDF files from evince fails - it seems to garble the print
job. only one page is printed instead of 11, and only some text (which seems to
be formatted in a different font). Evince was started using the terminal, and
these were the errors reported when printing to .ps file:

rudi@ndlovu:~/shares/common/UNGANA/Resources/Project
Management/The_Art_of_Project_Management$ evince
ch1_a_brief_history_of_project_management.PDF
Model not found, discarding config

(evince:10223): GnomePrint-WARNING **: Could not create filter from description
'frgba': filter 'frgba' is unknown

(evince:10223): GnomePrintCupsPlugin-WARNING **: iconv does not support ppd
character encoding: ISOLatin1, trying CSISOLatin1

When loading the .ps file in evince, these errors were then generated:

rudi@ndlovu:~$ evince output.ps

PDF file that generates errors when printed"
Comment 1 Olivier Cortes 2006-06-01 15:15:39 UTC
Hi,

how can I confirm this bug on 0.5.X too ?

I've got a PDF which produces exactly this error message and doesn't print on 0.4.x.
The same PDF on 0.5.x doesn't produce the same error message, but doesn't print too...
See the ubuntu bug for details and the faulty PDF file.

Thanks for confirmation

I am unable to print PDF files using evince 0.4.0 in Debian "testing".

My printer is a HP LaserJet 5 with Postscript level 2 module, connected to the parallel port of an Pentium machine. The printing system is CUPS 1.2.1, on which the printer make/manufacturer is specified as "raw" and the printer model/driver is specified as "raw queue (en)".

Evince displays PDF files perfectly, but when I attempt to print, the panel display on the printer reports "PROCESSING JOB" for 10 seconds or so (longer for a long document or for a complex page), then reports "DATA RECEIVED" for another few seconds, and finally reverts to "READY".

This behaviour is exhibited on PDF files from numerous web sites.

It seems it's fixed now with GTK+ printing system. Feel free to reopen this bug if the problem persists for you.
