GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 325944
Remember the size of the file properties window.
Last modified: 2010-11-14 03:59:05 UTC
The file properties dialog should remember its size if a user specified one. I am filing this bug report because each time I want to use the emblems tab, I have to size it up again, over and over. This is similar to bug #324097. Some solutions were suggested there, please take a look. Other information:
I would also like to see the Nautilus file dialog remember its size. In addition, it should remember whether the "Browse Other Folders" area is open or closed. (In my usage, I almost always have to click it open whenever using the dialog.) It would be good to make the file dialog much larger than the current (2.14) default. My reasoning is: * When the user opens this dialog, he is unlikely to be using any other windows, so there is little reason not to make it big. * There are typically enough files in the directory to require scrolling the window to find the one you want. Making it bigger would make choosing the file a "point and click" operation instead of "scroll, point, and click" in a significant number of cases, and would generally save time and hassle when the filenames are too long to be shown completely in a window of the current default size.
Thanks for your bug report! Regarding coment 1: > In addition, it should remember whether the "Browse Other Folders" area is open or closed. Where do you see that button?
I think he means the additional search parameters that show up when you click the "+" button. I guess it would make sense to remember them, yeah. Although those might (?) be better served by "Search folders" (Chris: see File>Save search as...).
This is still valid, though I don't know whether we really want this. BTW, the emblems tabs needing to be resized to be used properly is bug #471359.
