GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 323715
GNOME Panel Doesn't Notify of Program Errors on Startup
Last modified: 2005-12-14 22:17:11 UTC
This bug has been opened here: http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=20788 "If a program fails to start to to an error (A missing library perhaps), GNOME will not let the user know that the program has failed to start. The "loading" seqeunce will just continue to run. A smarter approach to this would be to probe for stderr and notify the user of the problem. Maybe something like this: Error The program failed to start properly. Details > Library libfoobar.2.0.so.1 could not be found. Also: Gnome properly notifies the user if a binary cannot be found. Something similar should happen for other errors."
I told you it was a dup. I KNEW IT :-) If you have any idea on how to fix this, please share ;-) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 144961 ***
