GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 322776
Unable to keyboard navigate into message headers pane, if no message selected.
Last modified: 2006-04-19 03:43:40 UTC
Evolution 2.4 If I start Evolution and use the keyboard to Tab between the various components, I am unabled to Tab into the Message Headers pane, if this is a mailbox which hasn't previously had a message selected in it. This basic keyboard functionality is needed in order for Evolution to be accessible (i.e. correctly controlled by assistive technology such an a screen reader).
hi rich, i am able to tab into the message header after pressing the "arrow down" button after having tabbed to the message list pane. (if the focus is in the folder pane, one can also use F6 instead of tabbing; problem remains though.) but... it is not intuitive, yes. running evo-2.5.2 here. devs: is this a GAL bug?
rich, is it ok to use the arrow down key or shall we keep this open?
Hi Andre. I think what we'd like is that if a mailbox didn't previously have a message selected, then Evolution would automatically select (and focus on) the first message when you Tab into the Message List. This all works nicely if the mailbox has had a selected message. You can just Tab from the Clear button into the Message Pane, and then use the Arrow keys to navigate up and down and the Control+(->) and Control+(<-) keys to move between the various table cells there. Let's keep that. It's just this "uninitialized" state that's causing us grief. Thanks.
Hey Andre, not a gal bug. Assigning it to srini
