Description Crispin Flowerday (not receiving bugmail) 2005-09-08 07:29:29 UTC
Version details: 2.4.0
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu/Breezy

I have quite a few email addresses, and they all get delievered to a single IMAP
account. I setup my email clients to store the sent email for all the accounts
to go to the Sent folder on the IMAP account.

This no longer seems possible from the evolution UI, when I have an account with
no receiving server (i.e. it is set to None), the Sent folder item on the
Defaults tab is disabled.

I can workaround it by adding a dummy receiving server, and then setting the
default sent folder and then removing the receiving server again, but that is a
dirty hack.

Fix

I dont quite understand why you may need to setup an account with the receiving
server type set to none and want to change the sent-items folder.

If you are using a CVS build, the attached patch will fix your problem. But I
dont understand your usage scenario. Can you explain it?
Comment 3 Crispin Flowerday (not receiving bugmail) 2005-09-15 12:41:45 UTC
I have a single IMAP account, which receives email for
<everything>@flowerday.cx. I then have multiple email addresses that I regularly
use, e.g. crispin@ and gnome@ both of these addresses are delivered to the IMAP
account.

I therefore setup the crispin@... acount to have the receiving IMAP account, and
setup a gnome@... account with no receiving server.

However I like all my sent email for both email addresses to be on the IMAP
account, so I need to be able to control where the sent items get stored for the
gnome@... account.

This usecase is quite standard imho. I do use one imap account too and have
different email for debian, ubuntu, etc ...

I understand that this scenario is perfectly valid and quite useful. The patch
is committed to head and branch. Check with latest sources.
