GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 315310
vCards Version 2.1 not readable
Last modified: 2006-05-22 08:24:38 UTC
Version details: 2.2.1.1 on an Ubuntu 5.04 distribution Distribution/Version: Ubuntu 5.04 When trying to import vCards (vCard-VERSION 2.1) either via File/Import or importing of attached vCards of this format, the content is not saved in the address-book. The content of an attached vCard is not shown neither (after chosing this option). It seems as if Evolution is not donwards compatible with vCards, because vCards Version 3.0 are accepted without any problem. I am using Evolution 2.2.1.1 on an Ubuntu 5.04 distribution.
Created attachment 51839 [details] a vcard version 2.1 created by outlook, do not know outlook version anymore, sorry
I tried again with the component i attached, it worked. BUT: the file i attached Dirk_Voellger.vcf was edited via "vim Dirk_Voellger.vcf" to hide personal Data. The original file created by outlook is still not to be imported or shown. I always can do it this way, save the vcf and edit via "vi" but its not very conveniant.
what exactly is the modification you did to the vcf file? did you remove any attribute or values?
I just changed the name, adress and fon-nr. to virtual ones. did not change any attribute. like: ADR;HOME:;;Real-Street-Name 59;Ulm;;89077;DE i changed to ADR;HOME:;;Virtual-Street-Name 59;Ulm;;89077;DE same i did with the phone-number and the email-address
Created attachment 51856 [details] presentation of an attached vCard sent via outlook
Created attachment 51857 [details] same vCard attached via evolution is presented like that
Parsing the character "ß" in the address filed is failing. Error message printed on Evolution console... (evolution-2.4:13932): libebook-WARNING **: invalid utf8 passed to EVCard. Limping along. (evolution-2.4:13932): libebook-WARNING **: vcard ended without END:VCARD
i'm going to target bug 240931 to 2.7. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 240931 ***
