Description Dirk Völlger 2005-09-05 19:07:16 UTC
Version details: 2.2.1.1 on an Ubuntu 5.04 distribution
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu 5.04

When trying to import vCards (vCard-VERSION 2.1) either via File/Import or
importing of attached vCards of this format, the content is not saved in the
address-book. The content of an attached vCard is not shown neither (after
chosing this option). It seems as if Evolution is not donwards compatible with
vCards, because vCards Version 3.0 are accepted without any problem. I am using
Evolution 2.2.1.1 on an Ubuntu 5.04 distribution.

Comment 2 Dirk Völlger 2005-09-05 19:19:19 UTC
I tried again with the component i attached, it worked. BUT: the file i attached
Dirk_Voellger.vcf was edited via "vim Dirk_Voellger.vcf" to hide personal Data.
The original file created by outlook is still not to be imported or shown. I
always can do it this way, save the vcf and edit via "vi" but its not very
conveniant.
Comment 3 Sushma Rai 2005-09-06 05:09:10 UTC
what exactly is the modification you did to the vcf file?
did you remove any attribute or values?
Comment 4 Dirk Völlger 2005-09-06 08:34:56 UTC
I just changed the name, adress and fon-nr. to virtual ones. did not change any
attribute.

like: ADR;HOME:;;Real-Street-Name 59;Ulm;;89077;DE i changed to
ADR;HOME:;;Virtual-Street-Name 59;Ulm;;89077;DE

same i did with the phone-number and the email-address

Parsing the character "ß" in the address filed is failing.

Error message printed on Evolution console...
