Description freggy1 2005-09-02 22:34:23 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu Breezy

I have the CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor applet in the gnome panel at the top of
my screen. When I double click this applet, the mouse pointer changes in a hand,
and the panel hangs completely, e.g. I cannot open the the Applications menu
anymore by clicking on it.

I'm using Ubuntu Breezy:
ii gnome-applets 2.11.93-0ubunt Various applets for GNOME 2 panel - binary f
ii gnome-panel 2.11.92-0ubunt launcher and docking facility for GNOME 2
Comment 1 Vincent Untz 2005-09-18 16:00:15 UTC
I can't reproduce. Can you still reproduce with 2.12? Also, is it the same hand
as the one used when you move an applet?
Comment 2 freggy1 2005-09-18 16:10:03 UTC
Yes, it's the same hand as you get when choosing move in the right click menu.
But I cannot move it and all clicks (even in other applications, etc.) are
ignored, and I have to kill gnome-panel to stop the problem. Still happens with
up to date Ubuntu Breezy packages of Gnome 2.12.
Comment 3 Vincent Untz 2005-09-18 16:43:11 UTC
Ok. It looks weird. If you double click with the left button, then I'll assume
it's a gnome-applets bug. Moving there.

Reopening so Davyd can look at it ;-)
Comment 5 Daniel Holbach 2005-09-23 18:54:28 UTC
Reported here as well: http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16142
Comment 6 freggy1 2005-09-24 09:13:30 UTC
Notice that both this report and the ubuntu report are both occuring on X86_64
arch. Maybe it's arch specific?
Comment 7 Daniel Holbach 2005-09-30 09:13:53 UTC
I can confirm that it doesn't happen on i386.

Another Ubuntu bug about that: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-applets/+bug/41258
Comment 10 alex f 2006-04-30 15:51:18 UTC
I'm on x86 and have this happen. Although I don't even have to double click and single left click will do. Most of the panel becomes locked, the menus work though. Right clicking the panel and selecting about makes the panel responsive again. I use dapper with latest everything. Also see: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-applets/+bug/41258

I've rewritten most of the applet. Could anyone check if the bug is still present in cvs head?

Thanks.
Comment 14 Diego Escalante Urrelo (not reading bugmail) 2006-10-05 08:13:41 UTC
It's not present here.
Comment 15 Esteban Sánchez Muñoz 2006-10-06 16:34:59 UTC
I can confirm it's not present in 2.16.1 under amd64 platform.
Comment 16 Carlos Garcia Campos 2006-10-06 16:37:24 UTC
Ok, then I'm going to close it. Thank you all for the help.
