GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 313673
Autocomplete doesn't work for LDAP Address book in To field
Last modified: 2005-08-20 21:07:45 UTC
Please describe the problem: When you are entering addresses in the To Field of a new mail message the autocomplete functionality doesn't work for LDAP address books. Tested with FC4 version of openLDAP, running latest FC4 version of Evolution which includes downstream https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=165269 fix for e-d-s LDAP write crash. Gnome bugzilla fix is at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311684 Without this fix, you can't get far enough to test this. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create an LDAP address book in the contact manager (or use an existing one) 2. Goto Preferences | Autocompletion 3. Check the box against the name of you LDAP address book 4. Create a New mail message 5. Start typing at least 3 letters of a name that is in your LDAP address book Actual results: Evolution does not autocomplete the name you are typing Expected results: I would expect the name to be autocompleted autoresolving (ie doing a search and updating the To Field you are typing to) before you've finished typing the name. This will contain the email address etc ready for sending Does this happen every time? yes every time it fails. Other information: This problem is not fixed in 2.3.6.1 (which ships with Redhat Rawhide (FC5 development series)
This bug has been filed in Redhat bugzilla as https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=165594
This fix at 311684 is committed to cvs head. And for me autocompletion works with LDAP backend. Can you start evolution-data-server in a seperate console and look for the debug messages printed there while querying LDAP server? Also, searching for a contact in LDAP book works for you?
I'll commit the fix for 311684 for 2.2 stable branch also. closing the bug. Please reopen if needed, with the details.
I attached the output of e-d-s to the downstream fedora bugzilla (Sorry about that) :( https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=117859 is the address
