Description Ed Catmur 2005-08-16 12:48:54 UTC
After loading Banshee the top bar displays "Processing" and then "Loading ARTIST
- TRACK" for some of the tracks in my music library (while the progress bar
fills up), but then the GUI freezes for some time, making it look like Banshee
has crashed, before the tracks are shown in the main window.

The amount of time it freezes for appears to depend on the size of the music
library; if I just import a small part of my library then Banshee just freezes
for a few seconds (as opposed to minutes).

I am running CVS head 20050815.

Interesting... never seen this before. Could you pleae provide some more
information? How much music, what formats, etc. What kind of encodings might the
strings be in? Do you have lots of non-ASCII encodings?
Comment 2 Ed Catmur 2005-09-05 02:04:02 UTC
Ah... this only happens if accessibility is turned on.

Would you mind turning it on (gconf key /desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility)
and trying again?
Comment 3 Aaron Bockover 2005-11-05 06:25:41 UTC
With a11y turned on, I don't have any problems in Banshee (0.9.10/HEAD). Just
saw it's been two months, so maybe something has changed. Can you confirm so
maybe this can be closed?
Comment 4 Ed Catmur 2005-11-06 01:08:56 UTC
Bug still exists with 0.9.9. I'm compiling 0.9.10 now, so we'll see.

Just to check - you did log out and in again with the a11y key set, right? - the
at-spi stuff doesn't get loaded unless you restart the session.
Comment 5 Ed Catmur 2005-11-06 01:27:58 UTC
Nope, bug still exists with 0.9.10. Leaving as is.
Comment 6 Aaron Bockover 2006-03-14 00:44:03 UTC
How about with 0.10.7/0.10.8? So much in this area has changed since 0.9.10. Will close in a week if no response.
Comment 7 Ed Catmur 2006-03-16 09:10:43 UTC
Yes, it seems OK now.
