GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 313230
Search in Evince doesn't work properly with RTL scripts
Last modified: 2015-10-28 18:42:28 UTC
When I try to search a word written in an RTL script in a document, Evince actually searches for that word spelled backwards (i.e. the right-most character in the word I'm searching for is the left-most one in the results Evince finds). The solution would be to apply the Unicode bidirectional algorithm.
Looks like a poppler bug, please follow: http://live.gnome.org/Evince_2fPopplerBugs
Seems that the bug was already reported there: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2981 Closing with resolution NOTGNOME.

It's very frustrating to see that this bug is still here since 2005. Don't really know what to say other than that (using version 3.10.3 on linux mint).
