GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 313080
Launcher do not update their icons
Last modified: 2007-06-29 13:42:09 UTC
Please describe the problem: If you have a launcher, and you remove it's icon, icon.png, GNOME starts, and the panel gives you a warning. Ok, you find icon.png on the net, download it, and put it back in its PATH, which is stored in the Launcher's settings. The icon doesnt appear inmediatly again on the launcher (shouldnt that be FAM, inotify stuff?), but it does appear if you go to it's Preferences. But, here comes the problem, if you click Close, (seeing that the icon is read by the Launcher's preference window), it does not apply the icon. I've tried a "workaround",putting another icon, icon2.png, it works, then I tried resetting my old icon, which is displayed fine in the preferences page, but it doesnt update the launcher's icon. In summation, if a launcher's icon is not found on startup, it displays the "unknown icon" permanently, until next session. This should not happen Steps to reproduce: Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:
We can make this work for icons that are specified with a full path, but most icons come from the icon theme, and it's not possible, right now, to monitor them.
