The background of contacts in the contact list change background color when the
presence changes. This can be pretty distracting when you have a few people in
the list. I suggest that the background change only occurs when people go online
or offline.

(This bug is also known as the american xmas tree bug)

I have done some more work to try and fix this.  
From the testing I did, my initial implementation did not cover every case.  

This latest update in CVS seems to fix every case I could test.  

Let me know if you still have problems.
