Description Stefan Sauer (gstreamer, gtkdoc dev) 2005-08-01 07:13:31 UTC
There are dead links on the following page:
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/tutorials/#gconf

The correct target link for "Introduction to GConf and GnomeVFS" is:
(it appears TWICE in the page)
http://developer.imendio.com/wiki/Introduction_to_GConf_and_GnomeVFS

The correct target link for "Getting ready for GNOME 2, Part 1" is:
http://developer.imendio.com/wiki/Getting_Ready_for_GNOME_2

The correct target link for "Writing GnomeVFS Modules" is:
http://developer.imendio.com/wiki/Writing_GnomeVFS_Modules

Hi Stefan, thanks for filing this bug and sorry for not receiving an answer before.

Apparently, though, it seems the links you pointed as dead are alive now. Can you check them please so we may consider this bug closed (or not)?

Thanks again.
Comment 2 Christophe Combelles 2005-12-20 12:02:34 UTC
This is not fixed!

The link is not really dead, but is false.
The only thing that appears is:
----------------------------------------
Introduction to GConf and GnomeVFS/
(There is currently no text in this page)

----------------------------------------

Everything is reported correctly, and still valid.
It takes two seconds (not 6 months) to modify the links.
There are FOUR links to modify on this page.
Please just do it! ™
Comment 3 Olav Vitters 2006-07-04 12:35:34 UTC
Reporter: Please fix it in CVS (web-devel-2 IIRC). Thanks.
Comment 4 Quim Gil 2006-09-30 21:39:08 UTC
The policy now is to consider WONTFIX any developer.gnome.org bug unless
someone (i.e. you) wants to go and fix it. The reason is that we rather invest
our time rebirthing dgo - see http://live.gnome.org/GnomeWeb/DeveloperGnomeOrg
Comment 5 Stefan Sauer (gstreamer, gtkdoc dev) 2006-09-30 21:48:14 UTC
Quim, as long as then broken links are not simply copies to the new site its okay. But I would suggest to keep this open and close it if its okay on the new site.
Comment 6 Quim Gil 2006-09-30 22:10:40 UTC
Well, ok.

http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/web-devel-2/content/doc/tutorials/main.in?rev=1.59&view=log

Apparently chovey made the last change. Requesting him to fix this bug since it's out of my control to know who is going to migrate this content and where.
Comment 7 João Matos 2008-02-15 04:09:08 UTC
This is quite old, is there are still some broken links on the page.
Comment 8 Christophe Combelles 2008-02-15 07:32:08 UTC
The first and third wrong links have been redirected to the correct page by imendio, but the second link still lead to a "Page not found".

regards
Comment 9 Murray Cumming 2008-10-29 07:52:07 UTC
I fixed those links a few days ago.

However, note that this list of links is no longer linked from anywhere - you can't get to it from the top of developer.gnome.org. I chose not to delete it just yet, but I think the links are all either
- Uselessly outdated.
or
- On the new library.gnome.org/devel/ site.
