GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 311844
stock_person icon is gender specific
Last modified: 2006-01-13 20:06:37 UTC
The stock_person icon in gnome-icon-theme is male. If I want to present a "default" icon to represent an individual: for example, an entry in an addressbook, or icon in a buddy list - it should be genderless. A silhouette or abstract representation (like that used extensively in BeOS) would be better. And it probably should also not assume a skin colour.
Making it asexual is probably doable, but going away from skin color is making it hard to associate with a person. Can you provide links to a screenshot of the BeOS version perhaps?
There are some icons on this page: http://www.bebits.com/browse/134 Cheers.

Confirming this because of the duplicate.
The ubuntu bugzilla has a bug about that: http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=18029
